Darbandikhan: 15 people gang rape 14-year-old girl

In a statement to Warvin, a source from Darbandikhan town said that police arrested around 15 young people sometimes ago.

They got arrested because of a complaint of a girl of Arabic origin. The girl has told police that they have gang-raped her.

The source claimed that the girl is only 14 years old; she has told police the details of the incident happened to her.

While there are rumors spreading about this, Warvin tried to contact police about the case to get detailed information, but they were not ready to talk saying that will harm the reputation of their town.

A police official who did not denied the crime that happened but said “due to Darbandikhan’s reputation, we do not want to publicize the issue”

There are many violence, burn, death cases in Kurdistan region that will be hidden because of the family’s or the tribe’s reputation, and none of the police officials are ready to give information about them.

Due to hiding many of these cases, the number of the crimes against women cannot be known scientifically.

Some of the violence cases will not be worked on by (confronting violence institutions) which belong to the government and will be hidden from public opinion internally and externally because it will harm the reputation of the regional government and the political authority.
