Two Kurdish refugees on hunger strike in Belgium hospitalized.

Two out of fifteen Kurdish refugees who have been on hunger strike in Belgium for 19 days have been hospitalized on Friday.


The Kurdish refugees who live in the Belgium cities of Liege, Leuven and Brussels have been on hunger strike in Minimes Church for 19 days today, demanding to get residence and work permit.
Speaking to ANF about the protest, Sultan Korkut, one of the refugees on hunger strike, said that “ Belgium foreigners' department wants us to leave the country. We have started this protest to demand the retraction of this decision and we will not end it unless we receive a positive reply from Belgian authorities to our demand for residence. We will turn our protest to death fast if necessary”.
Doctors say that two Kurdish refugees who have been hospitalized, Reşat Alkan and Emin Alkan, could face more critical situations in the event of continuing the hunger strike. Reşat is reported to be suffering from hepatitis b infection and Emin from migraine.
