Duhok: Children's literature conference held

Duhok: Children's literature conference held.
The conference titled “children of today are the hope of the future” held on Thursday (June 6, 2013) 11am at the Duhok’s health presidency hall.

In a statement to (Warvin), (Ayisha Shawkat) the arranger and supervisor of the conference and the director of culture and art of children directorate in Duhok said: “the purpose of holding this conference is the revising and evaluating the written children’s literature and determine their needs. 

At the conference, many intellectuals, storywriters, poets in the field of children’s literature from all the provinces of the Kurdistan region including Kirkuk, a number of intellectuals from northern and western Kurdistan were also invited to the conference.

Regarding the meeting of the Kurdish writers, (Ayisha Shawkat) said:  “the meeting of those intellectuals gives us hope and makes us optimistic about the success of our attempts to provide a healthy literature for the Kurdish children”.

“We should all work together so that we can design a national common strategy to enrich and improve the literature of Kurdish children and develop that important field of Kurdish children’s lives” She added.

That female director, also stated that her directorate is less than one year old, despite the small number of employees they have whom they have not been employed based on their profession, their small budget and lack of proper building, but she has the dream of providing a better life for Kurdistan’s children, and she works to achieve that dream.

At the festival, which started with honoring the martyrs in the path of Kurdistan’s freedom, then (Ayub Ramazan) gave a speech on behalf of the general directorate of Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs in Duhok, which praised the arrangers of the conference and thanked the attendees of the intellectuals from all the parts of Kurdistan and described their attendance as a support to the future of Kurdish children.

Later, the supervisor of the conference and the general director (Hasan Slevani) gave a speech and praised the great support of the intellectuals to develop the literature of Kurdish children and build a bright a future to the next generations. 

Some works of the directorate’s children were presented and (Eitedal Mahmud) actress from western Kurdistan ended the ceremony by presenting some songs for children. 

On Friday (June 7, 2013) the conference will be ended after presenting a series of activities.
