It is a great loss to the world . There is a person who Helped change the world , says Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt told reporters.




- A man who had been in prison for 28 years comes out and chooses reconciliation instead of being bitter, and advocate a different direction . Just his choices came to mean a lot to change and to put in place a well -functioning democracy and reconciliation process in South Africa .

South Africa 's last white president, Frederik Willem de Klerk , saidthat Mandela 's greatest achievement was to unite South Africa and the struggle for reconciliation between black and white .
de Klerk and Mandela were Jointly the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. During his early career advocated de Klerk racial division but seemed then to abolish apartheid and freed the imprisoned Mandela in 1990.
The official mourning will begin with a national mourning ceremony in the First National Bank Stadium , a stadium on the outskirts of Johannesburg , with seating for 95,000 people, reports the BBC . This is Followed by three days ' lit de parade in Pretoria. The official funeral , Which will be a state funeral , then takes place in Mandela village.

Mandela was one of the founders of the ANC 's armed wing Umkhonto we Sizwe . Sentenced in 1964 to life imprisonment . Was released in February 1990 Following a decision by then- President FW de Klerk .
Became South Africa 's first democratically elected president in 1994. On leaving the presidency in 1999 after one term . Worked on AIDS issues before he withdrew from public life in 2004.
Nelson Mandela was married three times . First time with Evelyn Ntoko Mase , Whom he had four children, of Whom only one daughter is still alive . The couple divorced . Second marriage was with Winnie Madikizela . The couple had two daughters and were married between 1957 and 1996. On his 80th birthday , Nelson Mandela married to Graça Machel , widow of Mozambique 's president Samora Machel . (TT)

The word " apartheid" comes from the Afrikaans word meaning " separation " .
South Africa adopted in 1948 , When The Nationalist Party came to power , official apartheid as a political system where people with different skin color than white discriminated . The system was very brutal.
The population was divided into four groups : whites , blacks , Asians and colored ( of mixed ancestry ) .
Parts of the black population was placed in reserve, so-called " homelands " .
UN General Assembly condemned on SEVERAL occasions , South Africa and emphasized That apartheid was a crime against humanity .
In practice , the abolition of apartheid , more or less in 1990, When then- president, Nationalist Party 's FW de Klerk , in a speech in Parliament repealed the apartheid laws and freed Nelson Mandela , who spent 27 years in prison . (TT)
