One of the two brothers who were sentenced to life in prison for honor killing of 19 -year-old Pela Atroshi applying for a fixed term sentence. The other brother has already received his sentence fixed term and may be released within a few years.

After serving more than 14 years in prison, applying the now 51 -year-old man is again about to have his life sentence timed , primarily to 21 years .

In its application to the Örebro District Court says 51 -year-old , among other things, that he had not received any complaints during incarceration , he conducted several parole overnight alone in his family's residence and that the risk of recidivism is nonexistent.

51 -year-old also refers to his 63 - year-old brother got his sentence, fixed term to 24 years last fall.

The two brothers were convicted of shooting to death his niece, 19 -year-old Pela Atroshi , during a vacation trip to Iraqi Kurdistan in 1999. Pelas father has acknowledged in an interview with Aftonbladet that he was involved in honor killing , but he has never been able to stand trial because he was not returned to Sweden .

Time provision of the 63 -year-old uncle's punishment means he could be released on parole at the earliest after 16 years. He has now served more than 14 years in prison.

Pela Atroshi together with Fadime Sahindal become a symbol for those women and men who live in a culture of honor , and they include a named organization Never Forget Pela and Fadime , GAPF , working against honor violence .
